Biography #
Early Life #
Mosso was born in Phovezila in 216 DHT, left there by his merchant parents that couldn't afford to support him in their long travels. They left him with the Elementum Order, who promised to raise him well.
Although Mosso began training as an elemental warrior, when he turned 10 his teachers realized that he had unknowingly began to utilize Nuimancy magic without training. With his talent for nui being so obvious, he was quickly transitioned to the Thaumaturgical Academy where he could properly learn to control the magic before creating a havoc-related incident.
Mosso studied extremely hard to master nui, and quickly became a well-respected caster among his peers. His natural magical talent afforded him time to delve into the study of numerous other arcane paths. Although he didn't pursue training in them, he grew to have encyclopedic knowledge of a many different paths.
As he continued to learn about the destructive potential of certain magic types, Mosso grew concerned with the dangers that could befall the people of Legere if such power ran rampant. He chose to formally join the Arcane Hand, and became an member of its BCA agency.
BCA Career #
Mosso was extremely successful as a BCA agent, using his expansive knowledge of the arcane to assist in the tracking and apprehension of dangerous magic users. He had an uncanny knack which allowed him to always stay one step ahead of watchlisted individuals.
His fears were realized several years after he started his career in the BCA. A rogue venomancer attacked a team of lancers in the Land Beneath the Snowy Mountain. While the lancers were able to subdue the venomancer, several dozen civilians perished from the caustic magic unleashed. Mosso was sent alongside some peers to inspect the scene and debrief those involved, and the sight of the aftermath haunted him for weeks. Mosso's resolve to protect others from such a fate was steeled, and he began to push himself higher and higher up the BCA's chain of command.
In 279 DHT, Mosso became the director the the Bureau. This marked a significant shift in the operations of the BCA, with Director Solren making its activities far more aggressive and invasive upon the personal freedoms of casters of interest. His actions always caused him to butt heads with the Hand, but it wasn't until the 290s when the intensity of his vision reached an all-time peak.
In 296 DHT, The Unbirthing of Talczelava finally brought Director Solren into full contempt of the Hand. He believed that the catastrophe was caused by unchecked somatomantic activity[^1], and that the Arcane Hand could've stopped an event like this from happening preemptively by cracking down harder on somatomancy. Convinced that he would be unable to provide the protection Legere needed while in the confines of the Hand's tenets, Director Solren wrote an extensive declaration that petitioned the Hand to release the Bureau as its own entity. Widespread support from not only the BCA's agents, but also a several members of the Hand meant that the only amicable solution to the situation was to release the Bureau from the Hand's oversight.
[^1]: Mosso Solren and the BCA, as well as the Arcane Hand, would never discover the true reason of Talczelava's fall: Sculptoris-infected fish caught by Veskovian fishermen.
